Pleased to offer this beautiful flamey butterscotch burst with a simply amazing “Yamano” Top from Gibson Custom Shop in 1998. This is a 1958 Gibson Les Paul Custom Shop R8 made for the famous Yamano Music of Japan.

During this era, Gibson Custom Shop allowed large Japanese retailer Yamano Music to select premium wood for these Les Pauls, to be sold in Japan. Since then, these guitars have become legendary for their amazingly unique flamey maple tops. 

This original guitar is in excellent condition with no repairs or modifications and has aged nicely in 26 years, with perfect patina on the hardware.

It packs ‘57 Classic pickups with a bridge pup at 8.7 and neck at 8.4. The neck is a medium C neck that is not too thick but has some heft; with depth at the 1st fret of .88 to .98 at the 12th fret and 1.68” nut width.

This Yamano Top ‘58 Gibson Les Paul is a clear cut above most ‘58 Reissue Les Paul’s and is really everything you could want in a flame top Les Paul burst. Sounds amazing and just a treat to play…like butter.
