1983 Gibson Les Paul Custom - SOLD
This one owner 1983 Gibson Les Paul Custom is in near mint condition and Winter Park Vintage Guitars is pleased to offer it for sale. In the early 1980s, Gibson (along with Fender) was getting it’s house in order and returning to a standard of quality and this Les Paul Custom was a clear example of that focus on getting it right.
The original tobacco finish is just stunning, as most often you see a tobacco sunburst, not an actual tobacco finish. Now, it was the 1980s and Eddie Van Halen and others led the Floyd Rose locking tuner movement to the forefront of that era of guitar building. Kahler custom made a locking nut and tailpiece for Gibson to give the players what they wanted so yes, this thing has a whammy bar for deep dives!
This factory Kahler made Gibson tremolo and locking nut system works perfectly. This is a perfect guitar for a guitarist looking for the rich tone and classic look of a Gibson Les Paul Custom with ability to deep dive on the Van Halen licks.
All the gold hardware is in excellent shape with no wear on the bridge or pickup covers and for 39 years old, that in itself is incredible (please ignore pics reflecting my ceiling texture).
The Tim Shaw PAF pickups sound incredible, very powerful. I was actually surprised how hot these pickups are and I mean noticeably hotter.
Also included are plate covers, pickguards, knobs and switch plates in black and gold so it can be configured either way. I like the gold but there’s something about that classic black like the old black beauty Les Paul Customs from the 1950s.
Made in Nashville on the 80th day of 1983, production number 48.
A very unique finish, hot pickups, locking nut, gold and black plates and in near mint condition at 39 years old. Oh, and its a blast to play and very reasonably priced. Add this to your arsenal and find out what happens! lol
